We start by finding out what actually failed — compression and leak-down, oil analysis, and a strip where it's warranted. Rebuilding an engine without knowing why the first one died is a good way to kill the second one.
Then you get options with real numbers: repair the failure, full rebuild with machining, good used unit, or reconditioned unit — each with honest lifespan and risk against what the car is worth. Head skimming, bores and crank measured, seals, gaskets and bearings renewed, everything torqued to data, then controlled run-in and a full road test.
